Resources
There are four basic kinds of resources in the Open Debate Engine system:
- News The news resource is a collection of recent articles from newspapers, magazines, or blogs on issues related to the topic. It is updated frequently and is browseable by keyword.
- Citations (or the Bibliography): Citations are noteworthy books, monographs, or journal articles on the topic.
The distinction between what is a citation (and therefore, worthy of being included in the bibliography) and what is a news article is admittedly an arbitrary one but the idea is that the bibliography should contain the most in-depth and analytical resources available on the topic whereas the news listings will be more narrowly focused updates or commentary on a specific subset of the debate.
- Authors: Prominent authors (ex. politicians or senior government officials) or scholars who frequently write on this topic are collected here to give users more context on their background or other writings on this topic.
- Organizations: Organizations who take a leading role in discussion on this topic are listed here to give more context on their politics or to find related citations or authors.
